Charism

The charism of the Precious Blood Sisters is to live and proclaim the redeeming love of Christ reflected in His Precious Blood, embracing the Paschal Mystery through prayer, mission, and service. Their spirituality reflects a contemplative-missionary heritage with Benedictine influences — integrating ora et labora (prayer and work), readiness to go where the need is greatest, and a deep commitment to the marginalized.

Short History

The Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood were founded on 8 September 1885 in Mariannhill, near Durban, South Africa by Abbot Francis Pfanner (Trappist) with the aim of living and proclaiming the redeeming love of Christ’s Precious Blood.
